CNC THread Grinder

2nd Shift

Dynatect has an immediate opening for a second shift CNC Thread Grinder at our Traverse City location. This location produces precision ball screws for the machine and tool industry.


The CNC Thread Grinder is responsible for writing and executing CNC programs to produce precision ground parts to print specifications.

To accomplish this, it will require them to:

  • Run their assigned machine in a safe and productive manner
  • Read and understand print requirements for each unique part number
  • Set up the machine to run each part
  • Measure and verify their work to the part print
  • Edit existing CNC programs
  • Write CNC programs
  • Adjust the part program to maintain quality, and productivity


The primary responsibilities are:

  • Work in a safe, and courteous manner.
  • Set up the machine for different parts
  • Create safe and productive CNC programs.
  • Grind parts to meet Dynatect, and customer specifications.
  • Meet required production and productivity targets.
  • Measuring work pieces and progress of work.
  • Maintaining all tools and ensuring proper working order.
  • Monitor products on a continuous basis to ensure quality standards
  • Read and understand directions.
  • Changing cutting or grinding tools as required.
  • Ability to load and unload parts with assistance into fixtures.
  • Advanced understanding of blueprints, and work orders.


  • High School Diploma /GED or higher-level education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and reasoning in all situations.
  • Ability to prioritize, managing time and workload efficient and effectively, while holding high standards, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read precision gages: micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Ability to read a ruler or tape measure
  • Ability to read and interpret part prints
  • Ability to program in g-code and conversational programming languages



  • Must be able to stand, and walk.
  • Must be able to use hands to finger to handle, and feel and be able to reach with hands and arms in any direction for an entire shift.
  • Must be able to see fine detail with the aid of a magnifying glass.
  • Must be able to concentrate on fine detail work for periods of 2+ hours.
  • Stand for 2/3 of a shift or more; sit stand alternate
  • Must be able to safely lift up-to 50 pounds.


Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and pre-placement physical with lift test required.
