Machine Operator II - Molding Department - 3rd shift (10:30pm-6:30am)

Description: This position will be responsible for setting up and changing over tools appropriately within the department; also for carrying out daily responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: setting up tools, changing over tools; start-up/processing applicable materials/tools; operating machines; filling in for operators when necessary; training employees; reading and interpreting schedules, job cards; blueprints and specifications while facilitating continuous workflow.

To accomplish this it will require them to:

  1. Proficiently set up various injection molding machinery.
  2. Proficiently changeover injection molding tools and inserts.
  3. Operate various machinery in a safe, productive, and efficient manner.
  4. Read and interpret various written/verbal instructions schedules, job cards, blueprints, specifications.
  5. Assist other employees in job set up, training, and operation of machinery and process orders per part specification to maintain quality and efficiency.

PRIMARY ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in a safe and courteous manner, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Be able to read and follow schedules while coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department(s), or work crew.
  • Follow standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Support the company with improvement projects with respect to continuous improvement and engineering.
  • Able to prepare equipment / tooling I.E changeovers and machine set-up as per production schedule/need.
  • Work as needed to optimize machine efficiency and part quality.
  • Maintain a safe workspace through COPS initiatives and complying with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Organize materials for the department to make sure that inventory levels are adequate and not excessive.
  • Ability to create, fill out, and close orders appropriately to make sure that the inventory is correctly accounted for.
  • To produce quality and quantity of parts to meet departmental production needs to avoid late orders to both internal and external customers.
  • Examine items produced to determine if items meet specifications.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders for other employees.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyze and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • All other duties directed by the management of the company.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • High School Diploma/GED and 6 months machine operation set up experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels.
  • Strong math skills required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to utilize standard measuring equipment (ruler, calipers, micrometer, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external personnel.
  • Ability to effectively utilize windows-based office software.
  • Ability to train operators to the responsibilities of the department.
  • Willingness to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Dynatect forklift license.

Experience in the following is a plus:

  • Processing glass filled nylon materials
  • Cincinnati Milacron injection molding machinery

 Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and pre-placement physical with lift test required.
